Cute critters, forest decorations, and a tasty menu, here's how I threw my mom a surprise party for Mother's Day!
I love Mami, so I decided to throw her the best Mother's Day party that I possibly could! I spent the entire day before preparing the food and decorating, and doing so was all fun, but the best part was the morning of the party when Mami walked into the family room and saw what I'd come up with!
As a fun decoration, I created a cute forest scene on our sofa table! The forest floor was covered with some moss, there were a few stones, toad stools, cinnamon-scented pine cones, and scattered acorns, but most importantly, three baby bunny statues! They're adorable and incredibly detailed!
The toad stools are an extra detail to the forest scene and add a nice touch of color! The stones also make everything look more natural, which is great!
The best part of this forest scene are the bunnies, of course! Each one of them is in a unique position, giving them their own personality.
My favorite decoration may be the "pond" that I made. I found a nice dog pool and decorated the sides with some monarch butterflies!
I filled the pond up with water, threw some of the extra stones inside, and floating on top were some faux lily pads with lotus flowers and a turtle statue (it was a surprise to me that the turtle floats just like a real box turtle)!
The gifts were wrapped in some tissue paper that I'd saved from Valentine's Day and I decided to design a board game for Mami that I named "Picnic Snatcher".
The table was set with a checkered table cloth to make it look like a picnic blanket, and the plates were rustic wood slabs! Scattered across the table were some acorns!
It's a Mother's Day "brunch", so of course, there has to be food, and there was plenty of it at this party!
There were a bunch of sweet treats, including these homemade powdered sugar donuts! My sister said that these were the best donuts that she'd ever had, and we've tried donuts (before we were vegan) from many different places!
I also made some sesame seed bagels that my mom said were better than store-bought bagels! It was my very first time making them and they were surprisingly easy to make!
The table centerpiece was a s'mores pie, which we weren't able to eat during the party since we were so stuffed, but enjoyed the day afterwards. It had a light and fluffy, chocolatey filling and a sweet marshmallow fluff topping!
I also set out a waffle bar, with store-bought vegan waffles, coconut-based whipped cream, chocolate chips, fresh strawberries, and homemade caramel sauce. The caramel sauce was made by cooking some condensed coconut milk in a double boiler for about 2 hours (it was until the condensed coconut milk had a caramel color and consistency).

Unfortunately I wasn't able to take good pictures of everything from the party, and there were some details that I forgot to take a picture of. Behind the forest tapestry that I hung on the entertainment unit I hid a sound box. During the day I had it playing "babbling brook" sounds, and at night I had it playing cricket sounds. I also had some LED lights for the night.
With the menu, I also made some cheese that I served with saltine crackers that the chipmunk offered on its tail. There were hash browns as well, but my favorite menu item was the breakfast enchiladas which everyone enjoyed!
