Ballroom Dancing

When I lived in Florida, I used to be a ballroom dancer. Now, that I've moved to Alabama, I'm a rower, and I love it, but I thought that I'd share some photos of my time as a ballroom dancer, including my 4 showcases and 2 mini matches at Luna Ballroom!

Once Upon a Time Showcase

My very first showcase was the "Once Upon a Time" showcase where the theme was all things Disney! My sister and I both danced, and we both danced to songs from the movie "Moana". Mine was "How Far I'll Go" and hers was "You're Welcome".

Christmas in Candyland Showcase

Our next showcase was the Christmas in Candyland one, where my sister danced to "Run Run Rudolph" and myself to "All I want for Christmas is You". For some reason I don't have many photos of this event, but we still had a blast!

Casino Royale Mini Match

The mini matches at Luna Ballroom are basically competitions where you're competing against yourself, just to see how much you improve. There are several unchoreographed dances, like a tango, salsa, or waltz, and then at the end, some of us preform a routine too! My routine was the same as the "How Far I'll Go" one from my first showcase, but I danced it to Demi Lovato's "Let it Go" instead. My sister did her "Your Welcome" routine and kept the music the same too!

Off Broadway Showcase

This was my sister's favorite showcase, the "Off Broadway" showcase where we each danced to songs from different Broadway musicals!

My routine was to Anastasia's "Once Upon a December"!

And Ariana danced to "I'm Not That Girl" from Wicked.

The girls at Luna Ballroom danced another routine based on Annie's "Hard Knock Life". We learned the routine about a week before we actually danced, but I still think that we did a good job :)

This was also the first showcase where my grandparents were able to attend!

Coaching from Sasha Farber

At the upcoming mini match, Emma and Sasha from "Dancing With the Stars" would be the judges, so they were also offering coaching sessions before that. Ariana didn't want them, but I did, so I had a coaching session with Sasha!

It was hilarious because he was comparing the way to move my hips in the salsa with a meat kabob, and I was vegetarian at the time. Everyone else in the ballroom knew so they got to laughing and someone said "she's vegetarian", so he changed his description to a tomato kabob!

Dancing Under the Stars

Then came the actual mini match...this time Ariana only danced rhythm dances but I did smooth too. Our routines were the same as the ones from the "Off Broadway" showcase :)
