Baked goods are an important part of autumn, and those with apples are especially so! And though apple pies get more of the fame, apple cobblers, such as this one, are just as delicious and they're even easier to make! While apple pies aren't quite known for being easy to make, this apple cobbler is! The steps are simple and preparing this dessert is quick and easy! So, in fact, making it is easier than pie! What makes this dessert so great? Maybe it's the flavorful filling? Or perhaps it's the batter, being a perfect combination of both fluffy and crispy? I'll let you decide! RecipeIngredientsFor the apple filling: 6 medium apples*, peeled and sliced (about a 1/4" thick) 1 cup water 1/3 cup packed brown sugar 1 tbsp. cornstarch 1 tbsp lemon juice 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg 1/8 tsp salt For the batter: 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 cup cane sugar 2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 3/4 cup oat milk** 5 tbsp vegan butter***, melted Other ingredients: Extra cinnamon for topping Directions
Notes*Make sure to use apples that are good for baking! **Oat milk is my personal choice, but any plant-based milk should work, so feel free to use your favorite! ***Options that I like include Miyoko's, Violife, and Full Circle Farm's vegan butter.
