My Sweet 16 was yesterday, and even though I didn't have a huge party, I still had a great time celebrating with my family! We did a puzzle, opened presents, had cake, and had an amazing time together! My Mami spent the morning decorating the living room with a festive curtain, balloons, setting out the presents, and this "Sweet 16" sash! I really like how it all turned out! When I woke up on the morning of my birthday, I stayed in the room for a while playing a board game with my little sister while we waited for my Mami to be ready for us to come out. When we did I saw how my Mami had decorated, took a few pictures, and then went on to have breakfast while listening to some music! We had a vegan croissant (from Whole Foods), with Just Egg, Violife cheddar slices, and Gardein breakfast "sausages"...delicious! Oh, and don't forget the orange juice! My dad was at work so I wanted to wait for him before opening presents and having cake, so I took out a puzzle that I got for Christmas and completed that while I waited. My sister helped at first but then stopped, and after doing a lot of it myself, Mami joined in. She then went to start making the cake and baked ziti for dinner (both recipes are on veganempire.net)! Finally, when Daddy came home, I opened my presents! I got a lot of great things, but my main present is a ski trip that my Mami and I will be going on soon! There's also some skiing gear, like goggles, gloves, a helmet, and a pair of snow pants! There's also a few things related to rowing that I got, like this funny "'I Love to Erg' - No One Ever" shirt and a "Row Huntsville" jacket. Then there's this stuffed animal duck that Mami got to resemble River, the duck that I rescued one day after practice! And cake! I can never forget cake! It was delicious :) So that's how I celebrated my birthday this year! Now I can't wait to go on that skiing trip!
